An evening celebrating the transformative, transporting power of music with the bands Inside Out and The Fish Police.
Inside Out was formed on the Irene Taylor Trust’s Sounding Out ex-prisoner programme; the band has developed a distinctive sound with intricate melodies and big emotion, hearts on sleeves, honestly sharing their life stories and displaying exceptional musicianship as they jointly look to the future.
“We always knew it was gonna be hard/ To leave this prison with a brand new start/ But full of strength and my hand on my heart/ I’m gonna make you proud of me.”
Their set will also feature an exciting collaboration with classical musicians. More info on Inside Out and the Sounding Out programme is at www.soundingout.net

Made up of Dean Rodney Jr. (singer, rapper, songwriter), Matthew Howe (guitar), Charles Stuart (bass, co-songwriter, background vocals) and Andrew Mclean (live drums), they mix their love of computer games, cartoons, fast food and Japanese culture to create sounds that set them apart on the UK urban music scene. www.thefishpolice.com

They first started working together at creative arts organisation Heart n Soul in 2003 as part of a regular music and drama art session for young people that Charles co-led.
In 2010 they made Heart n Soul history by becoming Heart n Soul's first act to perform in America. They appeared at the Lincoln Center in New York City. In 2011 they released their second music EP The Big Big World of Electronics.
In 2012, the group were involved in some of Heart n Soul’s biggest projects and events including the Dean Rodney Singers, an international digital arts project featuring 72 artists from 7 countries across the world and The Beautiful Octopus Club at London’s Royal Festival Hall. They also performed at the 2012 London Paralympic Games opening ceremony. Later in the year they travelled to Cork and Turkey to share their way of working and performed at different club events.
2013 saw another exciting year for the group as they released their debut album, The Marzipan Transformations, which was followed by a whole host of gigs including The Fish Police UK Tour 2014.
The Fish Police are huge music fans and their influences range from Daft Punk and Kraftwerk to Eminem and Bob Marley. The group also infuse their music with their love of Japanese culture, computer games, popular culture and fast food.
Dean says: “I want our music to take people to a different dimension.”
