London's experimental, melodic rock outfit The Duke Spirit have revealed their upcoming album, 'Sky Is Mine', will release on August 18th,
On Sky Is Mine each song approaches, revises, steps back and looks for humanity on a planetary scale. From the shimmering melodies and prodigious power of tracks like ‘Magenta’ and ‘See Power’ to the energy-fuelled psychedelic rock of ‘Houses’ and ‘Yoyo’, the album flows with a dark, beguiling grandeur with the majestic allure of Liela Moss’ crystal vocals. Sky Is Mine looks at harm, control and lack of love but burns through it to find the essential human heart.
Talking about the inspiration behind the album, front-woman Liela Moss explains: “With feet cold and wet from standing in the sludgy shit of rhetoric, illegitimacy and fear that is the world we tread upon, the album snapshots a palpitating love that bursts with, and values, Life. Half-finished sentences, which describe shards of arrogance, egomania and cruelty are dissolved by being pissed on from a great height with a stream of golden, glowing benevolence.”
Ticket holders can receive 15% off food for their table at our neighbourhood restaurant, Bush Hall Dining Rooms, two doors down from the venue. Please call 0208 749 0731 to reserve a table, or email email@example.com
"A sequin ballgown dripping in kaleidoscopic vomit. No sooner are you toe-tapping along to the rock 'n' roll-fuelled opening bars than you're being dragged down a psychobilly rabbit hole." Stereoboard.com
Clever Thing have already amassed a heavy arsenal of blistering tracks and cemented their place as one of Brighton’s favourite live bands, but a single listen of their new single, ‘Fixer Upper’ confirms this as their boldest output yet. On April 28th the bands follow up single to last years ‘In A Tissy’ will be released via DIY purveyors of local psych, Be Pacific.
"Delightfully unhinged and always on the right side of wrong". lostinthemanor.co.uk who kindly put Clever Thing in their 'One's to watch for 2017' article this year.
Fronted by Rich Fownes and Daisy Coburn, the band draw inspiration from spiritual forefathers Billie Holiday and Black Flag. While that might sound chaotic, the result is remarkably precise in attitude and intention.
Having individually been acquainted with some of Brighton’s greatest exports – Bad For Lazarus, Pink Lizards, The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster & UNKLE – the new outfit conspire here into an expansive and refined phenomenon, occupying, in the words of Lost In the Manor, “a twisted sensibility and raw power that would leave any Iggy and the Stooges fan salivating.”
"'In a Tissy’ is brilliantly attitude filled, cool and a sexy kind of rock n’roll. An absolute cracker live." Give It Back Magazine
When asked about the future, Daisy said “We want to show the world everything, we are practically bursting at the seams. Give us a smooch.” The band plan to release 4 singles this year and complete full UK and European tours.
