Jon Gomm, based in Leeds, West Yorkshire in the UK, is an acoustic singer-songwriter with a revolutionary virtuoso guitar style, where he uses one acoustic guitar to create drum sounds, basslines and twisting melodies all at the same time. The emphasis is still on the soulful vocals and songwriting, and his original material is influenced by everything from Robert Johnson to Radiohead.
His live shows combine deeply personal performances and a natural wit, with a once seen, never forgotten two-handed guitar style, both physical and complex, producing sounds people can barely believe are coming from a humble acoustic guitar.
"Once you get over the jaw dropping manoeuvres and technique, you will be rewarded with some spectacularly beautiful songs." - Blues & Soul magazine
"Gomm’s complex fingerstyle technique and acts of rhythmic physical violence on his guitar are no mere novelty; these are exquisite arrangements, and somehow no element ever upstages another. Perhaps the best percussive guitar album we’ve ever heard." - Total Guitar (2014 Top 10 Albums Of The Year)
“One of the world's most successful, gifted and inspirational guitar players” - Acoustic Magazine
Support from Billy Watman Billy is an award winning 15 year old Anglo-Brazilian classical / flamenco / fingerstyle guitarist, inspired by the likes of Rodrigo y Gabriela, Tommy Emmanuel and Paco De Lucia.
In early 2016, at the age of just 14, Billy successfully auditioned for ‘Guitar Star’ - a guitar based talent show open to all ages and genres on Sky Arts TV in the UK where he was mentored by acoustic guitar virtuoso Jon Gomm.
Billy stunned audiences with some extraordinary performances - for judges and mentors including Jazz legend George Benson, Classical Virtuoso Miloš Karadaglić, Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi, and David Bowie’s long time producer Tony Visconti - who described him as ‘a little boy genius’.
His live show presents a genre defying fresh new approach to nylon strings, spanning Classical, Jazz and Pop, through to Electronic Trance and Classic Rock – all on just 1 classical guitar.
Billy is always looking for new musical projects and performance opportunities and continues to study classical guitar at prestigious Purcell School of Music in London.
