James Blackshaw Ensemble
Three singular auteurs of guitar-led composition unite for a very special evening of heavenly sounds in the capital.
Blackshaw experiments with sonorous feedback drones, multi-tracked piano, measured strings and wind arrangements, heart-wrenching melodies, harmonic shifts and pointillist textures.
Frank Fairfield is a star on our hands. A California based fiddle, guitar and banjo player and ardent 78 collector who was the specially-chosen tour guest of Fleet Foxes, Fairfield sings soaring hillbilly knockouts, arcane rambling songs and murder ballads in a reedy tenor with that irresistible dust to digital quality.
Ryan Francesconi’s stock has soared of late as the main man on Joanna Newsom’s stunning triple album Have One On Me. He arranged and played all over that stunning opus as well as figuring centrally in its live incarnation and the Ys Street Band of Newsom’s previous record.

Philip Selway
PHILIP SELWAY of Radiohead releases his debut solo album - FAMILIAL – in late August on Bella Union records …
Familial is a collection of sublimely fragile, haunting and heartfelt songs that will surprise many, and not only because drummers traditionally don’t do this kind of thing. Familial is so persuasively good, it sounds like Selway has always been a singer-songwriter.

Ólöf Arnalds
In spite of her young age Ólöf Arnalds has been active on the
Icelandic experimental scene for many years. She played with
electronica virtuosos Múm between 2003 and 2007, and her debut album
'Vid og Vid' was produced by Kjartan Sveinsson from Icelandic greats,
Sigur Rós. Arnalds tells personal tales with a tender voice and leaves
the impression of a classic troubadour with clear associations to
early freak-folkers like Vashti Bunyan and Judee Sill or todays Joanna
Newsom.
"..Ólöf Arnalds has the kind of voice that can silence a room, such is
its sweetness. And high-profile fans such as Björk have been very
vocal about Arnalds' awesome talent." – Time Out New York

The Bees
The Bees have confirmed details of a first London headline show in over three years, at Bush Hall on Wednesday 15 September.
The show will be an early opportunity to hear the Isle of Wight collective perform songs from their just-completed fourth album Every Step’s A Yes, due for release on 11 October on Fiction.
It is the result, says Aaron Fletcher – who, alongside Paul Butler and Tim Parkin, comprise the core of The Bees – of an attempt to write a "universal song, something everyone could grab hold of," and even by that bar-raising measure, it can be considered an unqualified success. Three years has been too long: we really need the Bees.

Saint Jude
Having finished their seven month residency at the 100 Club in June
and then spent the summer playing festivals in the UK and Holland
Saint Jude return to the London live music scene when they play Bush
Hall on Friday September 17th and headline one of their trademark
cutting edge bills.
Their debut alubum ‘Diary of a Soul Fiend’ was released online in June
to fantastic reviews and will be getting a full distribution in
October. But it is their live performances that are stopping audiences
in their tracks when lead singer Lynne Jackaman comes on stage and
starts singing. In fact Saint Jude are fast becoming the patron saints
of live music, restoring a lost faith in rock wherever they play.

Mark Chadwick
One of the UK’s most successful songwriters, Mark Chadwick has co-written 20 chart singles and 6 Top 40 albums (including a Number 1) as part of The Levellers, the band he has fronted for over 20 years. All The Pieces is however, not a Levellers album. Whilst the voice may be familiar, that is where the similarities end. Instead, this is an intensely personal collection of folk-tinged acoustic pop tracks, written and refined over the course of the last two decades. Brought to life by award-winning producer Sean Lakeman Mark is joined by an ‘all star cast’ of some of the UK’s greatest folk musicians on the album. He will be joined on tour by a band featuring guest musicians plus support to be announced.

Fiction Plane
Fiction Plane have produced a third album as stylistically diverse as it is adventurous, yet which still contains the bittersweet melodic edge and strong grasp of rock dynamics that's characterised previous Fiction Plane albums. "All our different influences have come through on this record,” says Seton. “We’re all fans of Radiohead and Queens Of The Stone Age, but I’m also a big Dylan fan, Joe likes Pavement, and Pete’s into John Coltrane. We’re not really like any of those artists, but we tried to emulate their approach. It’s difficult to sell records nowadays, and you’re not going to automatically sell more records because you don’t take chances. You may as well just do what you want to do and have fun with it.".

Francis Dunnery's Fearless Tour
Former It Bites front man Francis Dunnery has announced a UK tour of the album that put him firmly on the international map as a solo artist. The 2010 'Fearless' tour will feature the very first live performances of one of Dunnery’s most enduring albums, released back in 1994, which includes the tracks American Life in the Summertime, Homegrown and What’s He Gonna Say.<
Dunnery explains, "It has been nearly seventeen years since I recorded that album and for some reason I never got the chance to play the songs in front of an audience with a full band."
"I’m really excited about performing this tour," says Dunnery. "I’m putting together a really amazing band and we will be playing the album in its entirety, as well as a few surprises thrown in for good measure."

Grant-Lee Phillips
Grant-Lee Phillips is best known as the voice and vision of the critically acclaimed group Grant Lee Buffalo. His recent material carries the same depth and insight as his previous work but with added vibrancy and a new experimental edge. A bonus to Phillips solo engagements has been the exposure of a deeply human side, a unique, off beat sense of humor and love of spontaneity that might have been lost in the echo of mammoth venues.

Hauschka
Having studied classical piano for ten years, Dusseldorf-based pianist /
composer Volker Bertelmann’s work as Hauschka is based upon a playful
exploration of the possibilities of the 'prepared' piano – an
adventurous intervention into the preconceived idea of the piano as a
pure-toned, perfected instrument simply waiting for a gifted virtuoso to
play on it. His resulting tracks are vivid, unconventional pieces made in
a spirit of playful research-enthusiasm.

Horse
The Same Sky 20th Anniversary Tour
It seems hard to believe that it has been 20 years since the much lauded album The same sky by the then, band, Horse. There were various top 50 UK chart singles like Careful, Speed of the beat and You could be forgiven and of course the album itself, which continues to be in demand.
This glorious and utterly unique album, with beautifully crafted songs has been described as the backdrop to lives, people falling in and out of love to it. It will be performed in its entirety by her band and in addition she will be adding the most popular b sides into the mix.
Where some of the original band are no longer involved in music, Horse continues to write and perform. She has her own record label – Randan, and in total has 8 albums, including The Same Sky.
For those who know Horse and this stunning album, this is a chance to re-live their own memories and for those who are not, as yet, acquainted with the amazing performer and writer that is 'Horse', prepare to be astonished.

Paul Smith
Everyone knows what to expect from Maximo Park - huge, soaring choruses, breakneck anthems and lyrics that are like universal rallying calls. However, singer Paul Smith’s first album under his own name couldn’t be more different. Although some Maximo trademarks remain - hooks big enough to hang a coat on, and a way with words - Margins is an album of astonishing intimacy, a much quieter, more personal offering of melancholy, insight and intimate modern blues.
